My name is Christie Marquette and I’m a registered and licensed dietician with Marquette nutrition and fitness. And I’ve been asked about what vitamins improve libido. Rather than vitamins, it’s actually more the minerals that have the potential to increase libido. Oftentimes, if a person is deficient in zinc or magnesium, those are both minerals that will actually lower their libido. So it’s important that you have an adequate intake of both of those items.
Zinc is found primarily in animal foods, so different types of meats. It is found also in small amounts in leafy greens and in nuts and seeds. So you want to make sure you have a variety of all of those foods in your diet.
Magnesium is found in some of the same foods as well. A sure way to make sure that you’re getting adequate magnesium and zinc is to make sure that you take a multivitamin slash mineral supplement that will ensure that you’re not just getting vitamins, but you’re also getting those minerals. So again, the vitamins per se do not necessarily have as big of an impact on your libido, it’s primarily the minerals. And of the minerals, the major ones are going to be zinc and magnesium. Those are the ones that are most associated with making sure that you have a healthy, natural libido.
It is really no more complicated than that. Yes their are many specialty
supplements in the market place, however we suggest that you start with
supplementing your diet with these two basic minerals.
